The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a talented, passionate and motivated Principal Sustainability Consultant to join our award-winning team in Riyadh, to work and lead on some of the most exciting sustainable projects in MENA and around the world.
In this new role you will be working closely under the guidance and supervision of our Head of Sustainability MENA who is based in the Dubai office. You will develop your existing knowledge and skills in Sustainability, Project Management, and Building physics and assist with the development of energy and sustainability strategies for buildings and businesses.
There will be a strong emphasis on business development and industry leadership and you will be required to quickly assimilate the innovative services we have developed so that you can use these to promote our services and wider Cundall capacity in the local market.
Working closely with colleagues of various disciplines, you will design, analyse, report, document and lead on Sustainability & Building Physics projects as well as present to clients. You will work across a variety of sectors and will have the opportunity over time to assume greater levels of responsibility and autonomy as we support the development of your professional skills.
You will be responsible for client management and project delivery for our key work streams:
- Building physics and parametric model services
- Building performance and operational energy optimisation
- Certification and compliance
- Health and wellbeing advice and guidance
- Net zero carbon services
- Sustainability design services
- Sustainable Strategy and Governance
The Skills
Educated to Master’s level (or equivalent) in Engineering or the Built Environment, you will have gained relevant practical experience in a similar role, and demonstrable knowledge and experience of sustainability and building physics.
An understanding of financial and resource management is critical.
Given the collaborative and client focussed nature of this role, excellent communication skills and experience of using your initiative to overcome challenges are essential.
- Engineering, Architecture or built environment-related degree.
- LEED Accredited Professional.
- Mostadam Accredited Professional.
- PMP or equivalent Management degree.
- 12 to 16 years of experience within ESD consulting in the built environment sector, with a proven track record experience within KSA.
- The ability to lead projects and more junior staff and positively represent the business.
- Experience with preparing strategy, implementation and certification of best practice schemes, including LEED, Mostadam, Estidama, GSAS, BREEAM and WELL.
- High interest and experience in Client Engagement and Business development activities
- Experience with responding to RFPs and preparing relevant techno-commercial proposals.
- Advanced understanding of passive design strategies and building physics modelling (Energy, Daylight, Comfort, Parametrics) in general.
- Solid understanding of the relevant industry codes across KSA and the region, and demonstrable knowledge of the financial/commercial aspects of projects.
- Possess a body of knowledge allowing you to evaluate ESD attributes and opportunities within designs, and where improvements are required (mechanical, façade, spatial etc).
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
- Strong Presentation & Reporting skills.
- Excellent Organizational, Time Management & Resource Management skills.
- Client liaison and relationship management throughout various stages of a project.
- Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently, effectively planning to meet deadlines.
- Ability to manage the various sustainability aspects of complex design and construction projects, with aspiring Net-Zero carbon targets.
Preferable, but not essential:
- WELL AP
- Familiarity with Architectural modelling software platforms, including Revit, Sketchup & Rhino.
- Experience with Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) using E-tool or equivalent software.
- Experience with ESG and Corporate Sustainability principles.
