The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and client-focused consultant to join the team at our Singapore office, to play a key role in ensuring the successful delivery of innovative ICT design solutions for some of the most exciting and high-profile projects in Singapore and internationally. Data centres are a key growth area for Cundall, and you will have the opportunity to take ownership of our new and existing projects in the APAC region.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with senior and junior members of the team and wider project teams. You will lead the design and implementation of ICT and Telecoms systems for not only data centres, but across a range of different projects and sectors, with oversight of AV and Smart Building systems where required.
As a Senior or Principal Consultant, you will play a key role in requirements capture, technical assessments, and developing strategies and solutions that meet project objectives, industry standards and best practices. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of ICT masterplans, site assessments and feasibility studies, design specifications, all whilst collaborating with internal and external multidisciplinary teams.
Through your foundational knowledge of ICT systems, based on a strong academic background with plenty of work-based experience, you will:
- Act as technical lead for allocated projects, coordinating the production of designs with relevant team members, ensuring that designs conform to client requirements, health and safety laws, industry standards and best practice.
- Design ICT physical infrastructure to support passive, and at times active systems, such as structured cabling systems, outside plant, ICT rooms, Wi-Fi, containment systems and risers.
- Coordinate the production of project drawings (e.g. schematics, layouts, installation details, rack elevations etc.) using Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD, in accordance with company and project standards
- Lead the QA and QC process as a checker and verifier.
- Develop complete design packages including detailed drawings, calculations, technical specifications, employer’s requirements, and tender documentation.
- Be involved with construction site visits to undertake compliance monitoring roles of ICT works, working alongside other disciplines.
- Collaborate within the wider Cundall team and external partners, working closely with colleagues of various disciplines to support the delivery of technically excellent and successful multi-disciplinary projects.
- Support the senior management staff within the team, embracing the collaborative and supportive behaviours Cundall exhibit. This includes line management, team mentoring and chartership mentoring.
- Contribute to commercial planning and management of projects.
The Skills
Educated to degree level in Electrical Engineering, ICT or Computer Science (MEng, BEng or BSc), and working towards, or already be, a member of a professional institute. You will be aiming for a career in ICT and telecoms systems design and construction in the built environment. We look for 5-8 years of experience working in an engineering design consultancy or for a contractor.
Desired traits for the successful candidate include:
- Ability to take ownership for tasks and deliverables.
- Capacity to problem-solve and help guide the team and client towards solutions
- Organised and confident communicator, with the ability to gather client requirements and lead internal and external meetings
- Knowledge and experience in designing ICT and telecoms systems:
- Passive ICT systems, such as structured cabling systems and containment.
- Active ICT systems, such as Wi-Fi and GSM.
- Hyperscale and colocation data centre telecoms infrastructure, including outside plant.
- Satellite communications, antennas, and aerials.
- MEP facilities for ICT, including power and cooling.
- Interface between ICT and other building systems, including BMS and Security.
- Experienced in leading site visits for surveys, witnessing and commissioning, to support design work.
- Understanding of project resourcing and commercial management would be advantageous.
- Working knowledge of drawing and model production using Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English.
- WiredScore and/or SmartScore Accredited Professional would be an advantage.
- Interest or ability to code in languages such as Dynamo and Python would be desirable.
