We are excited to pledge our support for a new sustainability initiative launched by the Crown Prince of Dubai tackling single use plastic.
Dubai Can is a sustainability initiative aiming to reduce single-use plastic across the city. The initiative aims to drive awareness on sustainability issues and alternatives to plastic, enabling access to free and safe drinking water across Dubai. This will encourage individuals to use refillable water bottles.
As an essential citywide movement, the initiative will help the UAE contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals 12 and 14, as well as instilling a culture of sustainability.
Mario Saab, Head of Sustainability MENA commented “This is a great initiative launched by HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, tackling one of the many problematic environmental challenges facing the planet currently. At Cundall we've been actively taking actions around this topic for a long time now, and we couldn't be happier seeing this governmental led initiative in Dubai.”
Previously we hosted two roundtable discussions with industry leaders to discuss and collaborate on reducing single use plastic. The outcomes were very positive with changes occurring not only on our construction sites and in the workplace but within people's day to day habits too. We look forward to running the next roundtable in the coming months.
At Cundall we are committed to driving the agenda towards a more sustainable future and we see it as our responsibility to be agents of change for a sustainable world.
