Jay Dee Dearness

After starting my career in design, I moved across to sustainability in 2015 and haven’t looked back! Growing up on a permaculture farm, this was the career I was looking for when I graduated with my Bachelor of Built Environment. It took the broader construction industry some time to adopt sustainability, so in the interim I’ve worked in interior design, architecture, landscape architecture, fine arts and community engagement.

The best outcomes evolve from steering a project skillfully and diplomatically towards integration of what is best for both people and planet. My background in design, paired with my Master’s studies in community engagement, have greatly enhanced my appreciation of achieving a collaborative approach to the consulting process.

I believe excellence is about continual learning and being open to new ideas and information within - and outside - our industry. Integration and cross-pollination of new knowledge in a multidisciplinary approach to problem solving allows for creative and unique outcomes, and often results in a more elegant solution.
