Richard Smith

Since graduating from Manchester University with a degree in mechanical engineering, I have worked for built environment consultants in the UK and overseas. I enjoy being part of wider project design teams, seeing ideas and concepts evolve from inception through to the construction. I’m also a Chartered Engineer with the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE). I really enjoy the creative aspect of engineering, developing designs and solutions to solve technically challenging problems.

Cundall has a multitude of initiatives, from webinars and tech talks to online learning platforms, aimed at knowledge-sharing and staff training. Keeping abreast of changes in legislation, technology, design tools and construction methodologies ensures I have the knowledge and confidence to deliver outstanding projects.

Since I joined Cundall, the company has grown significantly - both in the number of staff and the locations we operate from. I believe one of the big successes over this period, epitomised during the pandemic, was our ability to collaborate with individuals and teams globally. I’m able to access expert knowledge and skills from around the world to successfully deliver large, complex and technically challenging projects. Working in this way truly captures our One Cundall ethos.
