Simon Liley

I started my career as a sustainability consultant straight after completing my Master’s degree, working for national and international consultancies before joining Cundall in mid-2021. I believe the fundamental premise of design and construction is to deliver safe, comfortable, and healthy places for people. Our role as sustainability specialists is to help projects achieve that outcome to the highest standard and without compromising the ability of future generations to do the same.

Meaningful collaboration with a broad range of stakeholders and expertise is one of the most satisfying parts of my job. Whether unlocking creativity in an early-stage ideation workshop or getting into the nitty-gritty of building optimisation during detailed design, integrating multiple viewpoints leads to the best outcomes.

Continual improvement means challenging ourselves and our clients to seek better, more efficient ways of delivering outcomes. This approach includes both the best new ideas as well as interrogating what came before and retaining what makes sense. We should start by asking: “what question are we trying to answer and what’s the best way to get there?”
