Nestled within Johor, Malaysia, Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia (NUMed) is one of the university’s only two international campuses located outside the UK. This extension of Newcastle University serves as both an academic campus for its medical students and a fully operational primary healthcare centre for the local community.

Our team designed a building services solution that delivers suitable conditions for the project’s multifunctional spaces. This included appropriate lighting, cooling, ventilation, electrical systems and infrastructure to support specialist medical facilities including procedure and treatment rooms and an X-ray room. Our solutions extended to the reception area, pharmacy, seminar room, meeting rooms, consulting rooms and amenities.

Marcus Eckersley, Director commented, "This ground-breaking project allows Newcastle University to increase its global reach as well as benefit the local community in Malaysia. By working closely with the client, we designed a facility with a flexible and multi-purpose fit-out that serves well for healing, teaching and learning."
