The three-storey development provides a contemporary facility covering a range of primary care services, children’s services, physiotherapy unit, renal dialysis unit, community mental health services and services for patients with long term conditions. The health centre has responded to a demonstrated community need for refreshed health facilities within the local area.
Cundall was appointed to provide multi-disciplinary engineering services for the development from creation of brief to completion. A mechanical ventilation philosophy has been adopted, coupled with Variable Refrigerant Flow comfort heating and cooling throughout the health centre. The acoustics team used detailed 3D modelling software to assess the plant noise and assist in the design of bespoke plant screens.
Stephen Maddocks, Partner and Healthcare sector lead, commented "The multi-disciplinary teams have delivered on this incredibly rewarding project. High standards were ensured throughout the project, for example, the air handling units incorporated Low Temperature Hot Water heating coils. The design stage pre-assessment and progress ensured the “Excellent” BREEAM 2014 rating would be achieved. Team collaboration was essential throughout the project to maximise the benefits of client and contractor side working."
The health centre has proven incredibly beneficial to the community, and Cundall’s contribution in developing it is incredible.
