Adjacent to UniSA’s Jeffrey Smart Building and close to student accommodation, Pridham Hall is a landmark for Adelaide’s West End, creating a vibrant destination for students, staff and the local community. The building features a multi-purpose indoor sporting facility with a swimming pool and has capacity for over 2,000 students and guests for graduation ceremonies, exams, corporate and cultural events.
Cundall undertook a cost-benefit assessment and lifecycle analysis of sustainability initiatives during the feasibility and early design stage. Options including solar PV were investigated, and extensive energy modelling and daylight modelling undertaken. A transparent sustainability assessment and reporting framework was developed specifically for this project.
"This was an ideal project from a sustainability perspective as we were able to consider the entire operational footprint of the building as part of the initial project scoping. Our modelling of energy and greenhouse emissions in particular added value, by demonstrating the design complies with UniSA's emissions targets, forecasting anticipated operational energy costs, and assisting with ongoing building tuning activities." Lewis Hewton, Principal Consultant.
When a client has a comprehensive environmental management approach, every project is an opportunity to achieve quantifiable sustainability gains.
