Located in Brisbane’s Southbank cultural precinct, the 30-storey residential tower features architectural flourishes inspired by natural forms. It comprises 188 two-bedroom and three-bedroom apartments, ground floor lobby with retail and a double-storey rooftop residents’ club with pool, wellness centre, lounge bar and other premium facilities. The project also targeted energy and natural ventilation standards well above minimum compliance.
We worked closely with the builder, Icon Group, as the project lead for NCC Section J verification and compliance and developing the NatHERS pathway. Our team also undertook a Life Cycle Assessment for materials and building systems. Sustainability benchmarks were established before works commenced, embedding high performance into the project specifications and construction program.
"The design of this project is stunning and, underlying this, there were ambitious building performance goals including 8 Star NatHERS – well above minimum compliance with the National Construction Code. Successfully working with the contractor to ensure code requirements were met, while delivering such novel architecture, has been a significant achievement." David Collins, Associate Director.
When dramatic architecture is partnered with ESD principles, the result is both exceptional aesthetics and an enhanced occupant experience.
